Privacy Policy

Effective as of 2026-07-08

This privacy policy applies to the SafeSurf and SafeGuard apps (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Ilay Fisher (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"). The service is provided as a paid subscription, billed monthly or yearly per device, and is intended for use "AS IS".

Information Collection and Use

The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include:

  • Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address)
  • The pages of the Application that you visit (not external websites), the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages
  • The time spent on the Application
  • The operating system you use on your mobile device
  • App Inventory (SafeGuard): For device protection, SafeGuard monitors installed packages to enable application suspension features.

Accessibility Service Usage

SafeGuard utilizes the Android Accessibility Service for the following technical functions:

  • Content Filtering: Reading on-screen content (including web content rendered inside other applications) so it can be filtered according to your protection settings.
  • Internal Browser Detection: Identifying when a user enters a built-in browser within other applications to ensure content filtering is maintained.
  • Installation Monitoring: Detecting the installation of new applications to automatically apply protection policies in Smart Mode.
  • Tamper Protection: Ensuring the protection remains active and detecting attempts to disable or circumvent it.

The Service Provider does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or screen content processed via the Accessibility Service. It operates strictly locally on your device.

Automatic containment when disabled: If you disable the Accessibility Service while protection is active, SafeGuard automatically applies containment on your device until you re-enable it — disabling the system WebView component, suspending WhatsApp (when WhatsApp protection is enabled), and blocking new app installations. These changes are local to your device and are reversed automatically once the service is turned back on.

The Application collects your device's location, which helps the Service Provider determine your approximate geographical location and make use of in the following ways:

  • Geolocation Services: The Service Provider utilizes location data to provide features such as personalized content, relevant recommendations, and location-based services.
  • Analytics and Improvements: Aggregated and anonymized location data helps the Service Provider to analyze user behavior, identify trends, and improve the overall performance and functionality of the Application.
  • Third-Party Services: Periodically, the Service Provider may transmit anonymized location data to external services. These services assist them in enhancing the Application and optimizing their offerings.

SafeSurf uses on-device AI (TFLite models) to classify web content as part of the Smart Filter feature. This processing occurs entirely on your device; no content or images are transmitted to external servers for AI analysis.

The Service Provider may use the information you provided to contact you from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices and billing updates.

For a better experience, while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to Email, User ID, Device ID, and Diagnostics. The information that the Service Provider requests will be retained by them and used as described in this privacy policy.

Third Party Access

Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application and their service. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.

Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:

  • Google Play Services
  • Google Analytics for Firebase
  • Firebase Crashlytics
  • PostHog (product analytics and feature flags — Privacy Policy)

The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

  • as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
  • when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
  • with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

Sponsor Feature

The Application offers an optional sponsor feature that you may choose to enable. When you do, you designate another person as your sponsor. When you ask to loosen a protection or change a setting, the Application opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message addressed to that sponsor, and you send the request yourself. The Application does not transmit the request to the sponsor on its own. The message may include the setting or content involved and the time it was made, and it travels through WhatsApp — a third-party messaging service with its own privacy policy.

You choose who your sponsor is, and by sending these messages you decide what to share and with whom. No request reaches any sponsor unless you both enable the feature and send the message yourself, and you can stop at any time by disabling the feature (subject to your self-imposed accountability settings). The Service Provider is not responsible for how your chosen sponsor handles the information you send them.

Payments & Subscriptions

SafeSurf and SafeGuard are offered as a paid subscription, billed monthly or yearly per device, with SafeGuard included at no extra cost on the same device as its paired SafeSurf app. Billing is handled by Grow, a licensed Israeli payment processor; the Service Provider does not store your full card number. See Third Party Access above and the Terms & Conditions for the processor's own privacy practices.

Account and billing information you provide (such as your email and subscription status) is retained for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable time thereafter, for accounting and legal-compliance purposes, even after you cancel or request deletion of other data.

Opt-Out Rights

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. Note: If SafeGuard's advanced protection features are active, uninstallation may be restricted according to your self-imposed accountability settings.

Data Retention Policy

The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you'd like them to delete User Provided Data, please contact them at [email protected].

Children

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

Security

The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information. SafeGuard further utilizes Device Owner privileges to enforce security policies and prevent unauthorized tampering.

Saved Passwords: SafeSurf's built-in password manager stores saved logins locally on your device using industry-standard encryption (Android Keystore). This data is never transmitted to the Service Provider or any third party. Viewing or copying a saved password requires your device's screen lock (biometric or PIN/pattern/password).

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. Continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
